"It is not enough to attain a degree of precision which a person reading in good faith can understand, but it is necessary to attain if possible to a degree of precision which a person reading in bad faith cannot misunderstand." 19th-century jurist, James Stephen.

Lawyers need to work in international legal contexts, using English as the lingua franca.  My courses teach non-native English speaking lawyers and law students to understand and communicate more precisely and effectively in their everyday work and study situations.  Whether your task is legal writing, such as drafting or negotiating a contract, presenting an argument, advising a client, speaking on the telephone, or reading and explaining a statute or legal judgment , you will work or study better once you have completed one of my courses.

Lessons are private (1:1) or group and also can be arranged in-house.  Teaching is in classroom settings, through the Internet or a combination of both and includes a focus on your area of work.  I prepare those students wishing to do so to take the University of Cambridge ESOL International Legal English Certificate examination.

I warmly invite you to read the following pages for more details.
